I had a dream I lost my gravity and floated up into space. Looking down between me feet, I could see the earth getting small, and all the continents turned into words and other shapes. The Novel "Briefing for a Descent into Hell" by Doris Lessing may also be a background inspiration.
lyrics
FALLING UP TO VENUS
Somehow I’ve lost my gravity
there’s a hole in my chest cavity
and I’m hollow as a gallery
The paintings turn their face to the wall
the paper wind blows down the hall
and I’m falling up to Venus
The sky is dark and clear
the ground slips, fades, and disappears
nothing I can touch is near
I reach for the horns of the moon
as if her chaos could resolve this swoon
but I keep falling up to Venus
falling up to Venus
falling up to Venus
The earth is spinning down below
I can see it all, see right through the show
empty lives full of misery
left to learn their lessons in exquisite history
The sun grows hot, the sky grows cold
I’m getting younger while I’m growing old
I’m burning out my past life for all to see
Don’t you get too, no don’t get too, close to me!
But oh she is beautiful, a shining ball of light
beautiful and dangerous I better get it right
her clouds burn my skin but she takes me in
the pressure is severe here, I’m under the sea here
swimming in molten rock, giving back all I’ve got
and I keep falling up to Venus
falling up to Venus
falling up to Venus
But there’s something I had not planned on
Love and understanding
the ground that she walk on is the ground that she talk from
it’s the hope and strength I need
to feed the winding driving ball of need
it’s the fruit on which I feed, the truth I cannot help but heed
and I keep falling up to Venus
falling up to Venus
falling up to Venus
